The country grade has shorter pieces and reveals all the color variation including the darker heartwood and knots. Maple’s sapwood will amber as it ages. It is the second most popular North American wood for flooring after Red Oak. Bowling alleys and basketball courts are usually Maple. This flooring is milled with a smooth surface.
