The picture on the left illustrates the difference between Planet Hardwood and any other flooring showroom, and why customers from as far away as Montreal, Boston and New York City make the trip to see us. The wood flooring industry expects you to make an intelligent and informed decision from a sample the size of a magazine. This is because they are competing for space in most showrooms with carpet, vinyl, laminate, and other flooring choices that are harmful to you and harmful to the environment. Since most wood flooring is boxed or bundled in approximate 20 square foot increments we decided to show wood flooring on 20 square foot panels (on right) so you can see the character and natural variation of the wood . If you visit our showroom, you get to see an actual example of typical production and not some tiny sample from the marketing department. Wood is an organic material tied to seasonal availability and market fluctuations, so the big boxes, the franchise stores, and the major e-tailers tend to offer mainstream products produced by the square mile. Our website is updated frequently since we also offer flooring from more exclusive producers who do not supply those outlets. We love wood and that is apparent the minute you step into our building. We show prefinished, unfinished, solid, engineered, recycled, and environmentally certified woods from our back yard and from around the world. Planet Hardwood has provided wood flooring for corporate headquarters, high-rises, and residential customers from coast to coast.
A wood floor could potentially make six stops between the mill and your home (manufacturer → broker → private label (brand) → distributor → dealer → installer → general contractor → homeowner). Planet Hardwood shortens the food chain and sources directly from, in some cases, mills which private label product to the giants of the industry,
We’ve spent a lot of time on factory floors here and around the world and know production from the ground-up. Our history of consulting on quality control, product development and environmental certification helps us identify genuine value for you, regardless of the name on the box. We do not promote brands or make up proprietary names designed to create an illusion of exclusivity. We prefer authentic descriptions. Here in our showroom in Vermont, we do not use samples prepared by the marketing department to display the flooring we sell. We use actual production and put it up on 20ft2 panels, usually the entire carton or bundle. This costs us marketing rewards that are offered if we buy into the program, but showing actual production is a more accurate representation of the flooring and allows us to assess its merits during installation. Our customers can see a sample anywhere, but come to our showroom if they want to see a floor.
The web allows us to respond quickly to special deals and limited offerings. We have hundreds of choices in wood flooring and we would like to provide one of those choices to you.
