Walnut is the most expensive domestic specie commonly used for flooring. This production is from a mill that supplies one of the “giants of the industry” and has pursued our business for years. We took a leap of faith and presented them with a Walnut order that satisfies the metrics for what the National Wood Flooring Association (NWFA) deems acceptable. We hold our vendors to a higher standard, which is reflected in our recommendation of adding a 5% installation waste factor instead of the industry-standard 10%. The NWFA’s 10% recommendation anticipates that 5% is marginal, which is the case here. Even though this is considered first-run production by the “giant”, it didn’t live up to our standard, which is why we’re discounting this Walnut to the lowest price in North America. Grab it before it’s gone!
